4th of July Activities for Kids Learning Chinese

The 4th of July is a monumental date in American history, it's also one of the most fun holidays to celebrate.  Barbecues, watermelons, and fireworks are all my favorite things!  This year, go all out and celebrate with your family and friends.  And don't just celebrate on the day of, we have plenty of printable activities that you can do to make it extra special for your kids learning Chinese.

6 Ways to Celebrate

There are so many ways to celebrate 4th of July, here are some fun activities you can do to celebrate it with your kids:

 

  1. Backyard barbecue with hotdogs, hamburgers and corn.  You can also try grilling pineapple slices on a skewer, it takes pineapples to a whole new level.
  2. Bake an independence cake or spangled cupcakes.  Decorate them with blueberries for blue, strawberries and raspberries for red and whipped cream in white.
  3. Go on a picnic at a nearby beach or park.  Guacamole, salsa and potato salad are great portable food.  Don't forget to bring a chilled watermelon!  It's a 4th of July staple and hot weather essential.
  4. Decorate everything in blue, red and white from your plates and napkins to your outfits.
  5. See a fireworks display.  If it's too late for your kids, there are always sparklers that your kids can play with before their bedtime.

On Qingming Festival, families all gather at the graveyard to sweep the tombs of their ancestors and deceased relatives.

Chinese Mid Autumn Festival Activities for Children Learning Mandarin

Mid-Autumn Festival is a really fun holiday for the kids learning Mandarin Chinese because of all the kids-friendly traditions and delicious Chinese desserts.  It is probably the second most important Chinese holiday after Chinese New Year.  There are many ways to celebrate the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival with your little one, from lantern making to pomelo hat wearing.  There are also a lot of legends and folklore about Mid Autumn Festivals that you can enjoy with your child.

Rhino Paper Crown for Kids

Charge! With this 3d paper crown, you better stay clear when your kid wears this headband!  This rhino paper crown was requested by my almost 4-year-old nephew. He’s been able to visit the zoo again after the lockdown and has been asking me to do art classes on all his favorite zoo animals.  This week we made a rhino paper crown. It’s super easy to do and looks quite impressive.
