How do you teach your kids kindness? Whether you are a parent, a school teacher, a homeschooling teacher or all of them, kindness is such an important practice that we have to instill in our little ones. But the question is, where do we start? After speaking with other parents and educators, we created these kindness activities to encourage more acts of kindness and compassion. You can use them to teach your kids at home or in a classroom. These kindness activities are perfect for preschoolers, kindergartners and first graders.

The Chinese New Year, also referred to as the Lunar New Year is the biggest holiday celebration that stretches for 15 days and more.   It’s more than just celebrating a new beginning, it’s a celebration of hope, renewal, and gratitude.  When you teach your child about the Chinese New Year, you broaden their perspective about the world and acceptance of different cultures. You can celebrate the Chinese New Year with your children with many fun hands-on activities. 

We are kicking off October this year with a visit to the local pumpkin patch!  This weekend we went to Clancy’s Pumpkin Patch.  Every year they set up a beautiful pumpkin patch in an empty lot next to a small park.  It’s beautifully decorated with a wide range of pumpkins, scarecrows, witches, families of skeletons (with pets, too), and many more. 

There are a lot of benefits to teaching your kids about Easter. For one, it teaches your child about acceptance of all faiths. Much like celebrating Christmas, you don’t have to be religious to participate in the cultural traditions. Also, it introduces your child to the concept of birth and renewal. Whatever you decide to teach your child, follow up with engaging Easter activities in Mandarin Chinese!
