5 Best Free Chinese Audiobooks for Children learning Mandarin

Charge! With this 3d paper crown, you better stay clear when your kid wears this headband!  This rhino paper crown was requested by my almost 4-year-old nephew. He’s been able to visit the zoo again after the lockdown and has been asking me to do art classes on all his favorite zoo animals.  This week we made a rhino paper crown. It’s super easy to do and looks quite impressive.  I made the template out of a quick sketch and added leaves that you can cut out for decorating the paper crown since rhinos are herbivores.  It’s a great art project for kids that love rhinoceros.  I remember as a child,  I thought rhino was from a different planet because of their leather rough skin that looked like armor and the odd placement of the horns between their tiny eyes.

But as I was planning out this art project, I developed a whole new appreciation for rhinoceros.  During my research I learned so many fun facts about rhinoceros.  Here are some facts you can share with your child if he or she doesn't know them already!

FUN FACTS ABOUT RHINOS

  • Rhinoceros are the second largest mammals in the world after elephant
  • The name rhinoceros actually means “nose horn”
  • Black and white rhinoceros are both grey!
  • Rhinoceros are herbivores, they eat grasses, leaves, shoots, buds and fruits.  This might inspire your child to eat more veggies!

This is why I love creating art projects for kids. I benefit so much through topic research and design development.  It’s as if I am learning about the world again for the first time.

What you will need

This is a very easy papercraft project.  The supplies you will need are:

  • Cardstock or standard paper - 8.5" x 11"/Letter Size to print out the file

More Zoo Animal Activities

If your child love visiting the zoo and learning about animals, they will love these activities.

Zoo Animal Flashcards

If you go to the zoo often with the kids, you know they always love spotting new animals or even ones they’ve come to know and love over the years. These zoo flashcards include 32 animals and common zoo items. Bring these cards with you on the next zoo visit and challenge your kids to find as many of these animals and items as they can! We recommend printing them on thicker paper and display them in the play area.

Animal Puzzles

Piece together problem-solving fun and bring puzzle play anywhere with this 2 piece animal puzzle! Match the top and bottom pieces to create 8 cute animal puzzles (giraffe, rabbit, penguin, flamingo, elephant, lion, snake and monkey). These are for kids that love the zoo!

Animal Movement DIY Dice

Stump, waddle, roar! Your kids will have so much fun playing with this dice. Simply roll the dice and mimic the animal movement. Kids will learn coordination, balance and stability and definitely break a sweat.

Free Halloween Scavenger Hunt for Kids Learning Chinese

We are kicking off October this year with a visit to the local pumpkin patch!  This weekend we went to Clancy’s Pumpkin Patch.  Every year they set up a beautiful pumpkin patch in an empty lot next to a small park.  It’s beautifully decorated with a wide range of pumpkins, scarecrows, witches, families of skeletons (with pets, too), and many more.
